International Packing Tips

  • Try not to exceed a weight of 50 pounds per box.
  • Make sure there is enough cushioning to absorb shock.
  • Use only sturdy cartons.
  • Try to pack boxes so as no empty spaces will remain.
  • Try to mark and label boxes by room.
  • Pack the items you need most last.
  • Empty all drawers of breakable items, liquids etc.
  • Sort out items of the same size and type and try to pack them together.
  • Pack disassembled items and their various parts together and label them carefully.
  • Wind and fasten electrical cords.
  • Wrap items only with clean paper such as tissue, paper towels etc.
  • For outer wrapping use a double layer of newspaper.
  • Use extra paper to cushion the bottom of boxes.
  • Pack in layers and place the heaviest things on the bottom.
  • Fill empty spaces with crushed paper.
  • Use a lot of cushioning for fragile items.
  • Pack small, fragile items in small boxes and cushion them well with crushed paper.
  • Seal cartons that do not need the mover's inspection tightly with tape.
  • List contents on the side of each box.
  • Do not forget to write down your name and the designated room on the box.
